PCI Version 2.0 is Effective January 1
Businesses who capture and store credit and debit card data on their computers will need to ensure their compliance with an updated version of the PCI guidelines beginning January 1, 2011. The new version does not impose any major new requirements, but instead contains more user-friendly language and clarification for clearer guidance on the standards.

Email Scam Targets MerchantConnect, Virtual Merchant
Please be aware that we are currently investigating potential phishing email scams associated with our VirtualMerchant and MerchantConnect products. Phishing emails are sent from fraudsters who are trying to access confidential information about you or your business. Elavon would never request that you provide your Social Security Number, Tax ID Number or other sensitive information in response to an email. If you receive a suspicious email, don’t click on any links in the email or provide any information. Instead, type the product URL into your browser’s address bar to securely access the site. If you receive suspicious email that uses Elavon’s name please notify us immediately by emailing techsupp@elavon.com or calling 1.800.377.3962.

Merchants may experience declines due to update
On June 29, 2010 between the hours of 2:55pm and 4:00pm Central time, the Paducah Bank debit card system will be down for updates. During this window, any customer with a Paducah Bank debit card will experience a decline. Merchants will see declines on their credit card terminals and software for all Paducah Bank debit cards. Paducah Bank apologizes for the inconvenience, and the system will be up as soon as possible.

The 2009 Credit Card Act will have a significant impact to consumers, merchants, and processors.
Specifically, as part of the new law, consumers who attempt to pay for transactions and hit their credit limit or available bank balance will be declined at the point of sale rather than being able to go over their limit and just be charged an overdraft fee.

Mike Zimmerman joins Payment Plus, Inc.
Mike Zimmerman joined Payment Plus, Inc. as vice president of business development. For the last 12 years Zimmerman has served as general manager for A&K Construction in Paducah managing nearly every facet of the company. A James Madison University graduate, Zimmerman spent 16 years with Moore Business Forms & Systems Division in Atlanta, Ga. Payment Plus in Paducah provides a broad range of secure electronis payment processing solutions for businesses across the country.
President of Payment Plus Inc. receives Chamber of Commerce award
The Paducah Area Chamber of Commerce named Tammy Zimmerman Entrepreneur of the Month at the Power of Partnership breakfast on June 3. Payment Plus works with businesses to process credit card payments, among other services. The company also announced that they will be relocating and building a new facility in Paducah. In her remarks, Zimmerman congratulated the graduates and expressed hope for them, asking those assembled “to invest in these talented individuals, just as many people have invested in me. It is through them and their work that Paducah will continue to grow and be a better place. That’s why we are building a new building so that we can invest in people here and help Paducah and its people grow.”

Tammy Zimmerman has been named co-chair of the Advisory Committee for Managed Service Providers of Elavon, the leading global provider in payment processing services. In her position, she will help Elavon determine best practices, increase quality of communications, improve product delivery and program development and enhance sales and marketing tools. Tammy holds a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from the University of Louisville and has more than 25 years of experience in the banking and credit card industry. She is president and founder of Payment Plus Inc., a payment processing provider located in Paducah that provides a broad range of secure electronic payment processing solutions both locally and for customers from coast to coast.
