Twelve tips for Christmas
Check out our helpful hints for the holidays
1.Stock Up! Make sure you have enough paper and imprint slips. Most terminals require thermal paper, and the receipts won't print if it isn't loaded correctly.
2.Take time to enter all the information requested by the terminal during a transaction. It can save you money in the long run.
3. Check your customers' identification. Make sure their name matches the name on the card. If not, you could experience a chargeback later.
4. Do not send any sensitive payment information via email.
5. If you receive a request for an order via a relay call, be suspicious! Fraudsters often use relay operators that are designed for the hearing-impaired to place fraudulent orders with stolen credit cards.
6. If you are suspicious of a card transaction, contact the Voice Authorization Center and request a Code 10 Authorization. This lets the operator know you are suspicious without alerting the cardholder.
7. Keep your passwords secure! Never leave your passwords where someone could access your sensitive information.
8. Make sure you have signs displayed clearly for customers to see what types of credit cards you accept. Let us know if you need new window or door decals or tabletop signs.
9. Settle your transactions daily. Contact us if you are having problems settling.
10. Check your terminals' power cord(s), telephone, and internet cords to make sure they are securely connected and are working properly.
11. Keep Payment Plus' telephone number handy near your checkouts. We are available to answer your questions and provide the assistance you need. If your terminal sticker is worn out or hard to read, give us a call and we can send you a fresh label with contact information.
12. You may receive a "call auth center" message on your terminal. Don't worry! With more people spending for Christmas gifts, security measures are in place to monitor large or unusual purchases.
